A recent gathering in Madrid united faith communities, cultural voices and social actors to reflect on the World Day for Cultural Diversity. The dialogue included a representative of the Bahá’í Community of Spain, Fernando Hernández of the Madrid Municipal Police Diversity Management Unit, flamenco artist Tito Losada, a Roma guitarist and composer, and human rights educator Denise González. Speakers presented reflections from faith, culture and public service on how open dialogue can reduce prejudice.
Throughout the gathering, participants considered themes such as tolerance, social cohesion and the prevention of discrimination. Fundación Mejora linked the initiative with Scientology’s emphasis on ethical values and community improvement. Ivan Arjona, representative of the Church of Scientology to European and international institutions, noted that cultural and religious diversity is a value for society when accompanied by mutual understanding and responsibility.
